Purchased for a light weight machine that can travel to class. I am fussy, even about a classroom machine. Must have needle up/down, scissor thread cut function, speed control, and an extension table. To get these features one must always buy up (sort of like having to buy up in a car model to get the features wanted), and the price goes up, along with lots of stitch features not wanted. This is an upscale model for a downscale price. It has the features I require. It sews beautifully, even for a light weight machine, and sounds like a much more expensive machine. True, it has many stitches that I will never use, but that is OK
